week 10 reflections

This had been a fruitful course.I started off knowing nothing and was anxious enough to finish the course. in fact at one point due to my ill health i thought all my efforts will go down the drains but thanks to Robert who encouraged me to continue with it.Overall net surfing techniques,PBL,one computer classroom, blogging, using nice net for discussions ,making interactive power point presentations and other web based tools were very informative and useful.Certain concepts and discussions were thought provoking for example moving towards learner autonomy, learners styles and types etc.I had a a very nice first experience of an on-line course and have motivated my colleagues too and i am happy to announce that they are looking forward to any such opportunities in the future.Till then i will share my experience and will definitely learn more by practically applying my knowledge in my teaching.

Thanks Robert once again for inspiring me how to be a good teacher and in realizing my weaknesses.Wish you a perfect spring ahead.

week 9 journey comming to an end!

The previous week and this week had been very tough for me.several times i got so under pressure because of my ill health that i lost all hopes of completing my final projects.i could not contribute to class discussions but nevertheless i am really grateful to Robert for not only guiding me but also for his constant support and belief in me that i will do it,maybe that is how a teacher should be.This week different learning styles were nice topic for discussion and learning, though i get a copy of FORUM and i want to be a part of it but again was not fortunate enough to talk to its editors. This course for me was great i do not claim that i learned every bit of it but exploring internet for teaching in the way this course has taught us something new for me ,i can still recall my anxiety at the start of it.It was a nice and fruitful opportunity for me and definitely my students and colleagues will learn from me.

Thanks Robert and all.

Week 7 Autonomy

Week seven is over and gradually we are coming towards the close of our course. This week after reading about learners' autonomy was thought provoking as it suggested democratic learning environment.Teachers need to learn how to share their authority and delegate some of the powers to the students so that they own their learning process in this connection one computer classroom is an apt idea as it helps to organize the lesson contents and channelize the learning time...innovation and patience can make us better teachers and we can inspire our learners to be better learners.

Week 6 :JUST A BEGINNER

In this week the main task was how to handle large class with interactive power point presentation.Rightly remarked by Naqib that we do get chance to use power point but not in interactive way. After being a part of this course for a couple of weeks i feel that my job can e a lot fun and easier if i know how to handle my laptop and internet in a smarter way. Before this honestly speaking i did not hear about interactive presentation since i am exposed to the traditional method of watch and read style.  By using interactive presentation and PBL style language class will be more like an entertainment class, where students will  feel relax and motivated to perform better than the other. After going through the presentation of my course mates and the discussion on nice net i learned many new ways in which technology can be used to bring life to the otherwise dead class of literature and language.

Regards.

week 5 learning is discovering

This has been a nice week as i learned about PBL, rubrics and Rubistar.com and created my own rubrics and last but not the least web-quests. As i started the week i was a bit hesitant when i read Robert's mail but after going through the readings and the allied web links my hesitation converted into enthusiasm and i learned one thing that everything is present around me in the air,i just need to channelize my energies to have best outcomes.I enjoyed the web-quests and found them interesting for students of every group and age. It is a very helpful tool in making students responsible for their own learning.Secondly the rubrics will help them in setting their milestones and achieving them.

After these five weeks i am really thankful to all those who gave me the opportunity to be a part of this course.

week4: technology and language learning

Week 4 is approaching its end , i got the feeling in this week as if i know things but they need to be organized and planned neatly after i read the articles on lesson planning. Lesson planning is a nice thing or it provides the teacher with a mind map and guides him throughout the course of the lesson and i believe that even a little information conveyed in an organized way will leave a lasting impression.Again i would say that this had been a fruitful week fir me in terms of knowing and analyzing my surroundings and available resources and thinking about how to put them to use.

Exploring a new world

This week was very interesting for me as i realized that  an entire new world exists which needs to be explored.I kept on thinking that places like Pakistan and people like my students can benefit very positively from it.I am impressed how good my colleagues are at using internet no doubt the problems are the same but those teachers who have excellent internet skills are far better and i have made up my mind to learn such skills on priority basis. Delicious seems to be a very interesting tool in our hand now we handle it, Mbrek is lucky enough that he knows about better options. Now it is challenging and interesting.
